MOVING INTO COLOUR 2

Your outline must be accurate because it will be your guide for the portrait.

I outlined this portrait with a black pencil pastel. You can also use a black charcoal stick. If you make a mistake, you can rub out with a soft cloth or kitchen paper. If you use an eraser ,it will destroy the rough texture of the paper.

In this second stage , I filled in the darkest areas, black for the hair and eyes and a dark grey for the suit.

In the third stage I used a light burnt sienna pastel.

I used it on the background to add some interest and on the darker areas of the face and neck.
